What is liner film?
Liner film is a plastic inner layer used in paper bags to protect products from moisture and external influences. This film contributes to the shelf life, processability and safety of the packaged product.
Suitable for various sectors
Our liner films (HDPE & LDPE) are used in the following sectors, among others:
- Building & Construction - e.g. plaster and cement bags
- Food (Nutrition) - for bags of powders or additives (non-food only)
- Petfood - protecting dry food from moisture
- Automotive - packaging for industrial substances
- Agriculture - for seeds and fertilisers
- Pharmaceutical - secondary packaging for powders
Our innovative liner film
Our innovative HDPE liner film that excels in water vapour barrier (WVTR) at significantly lower thicknesses. Where traditionally 50µ HDPE was used, Hydroguard offers the same barrier with only 20µ. This means:
- Less use of materials (up to 2.5x thinner)
- Lower CO₂ emissions
- Lower transport and storage costs
- Fewer roll changes in the packaging process
Available in 100% virgin version or as PPWR-proof alternative with 35% PCR for non-food applications.
PPWR compliance: ready for the future
The PPWR legislation places obligations on the use of recycled content from 2030. For liners, this means:
- Virgin-only is no longer future-proof (in non-food)
- We offer liners with 35% PCR, produced by our joint venture REKS LLC, for customers who want to anticipate upcoming regulations and taxes (such as the Italian plastic tax: €0.45/kg virgin).
Note: No PCR should be used for direct-food contact, even with a virgin inner coating.
