Recycling to PIR and PCR
At KIVO, we are committed to a circular economy by recycling plastic waste into high-quality raw materials. At KIVO Recycling, we process production surplus and waste streams into Post-Industrial Recycled (PIR) content. This process starts with the sorted collection of our own production surplus, after which it is melted and transformed into new raw materials that can be directly reused in our production.
At REKS LLC, our joint venture recycling facility, we focus on recycling plastic waste streams from supermarket chains, retailers and distribution centres, among others. Here, we sort, separate, wash and recycle plastic waste into Post-Consumer Recycled (PCR) content. Manual sorting enables us to produce the highest quality transparent LDPE and LLDPE recycled raw materials.
These PIR and PCR raw materials are then used to create new, sustainable packaging solutions. By continuously investing in the latest technologies and processes, we ensure that our recycling operations are both efficient and environmentally friendly.

Sustainable raw materials as end result
Our sustainable PIR and PCR raw materials are of such high quality that we can achieve percentages of as much as 80% of recycled material in our products. These recycled materials are then used to produce new, high-quality packaging solutions at KIVO. Among other things, we make flexible films, bags and sleeves that are both functional and eco-friendly. By using recycled material, we reduce the need for new plastic and contribute to a lower carbon footprint.
Frequently asked questions
Below are some frequently asked questions about our recycling processes.
How does the recycling process work at KIVO?
At KIVO, we recycle plastic waste into high-quality PIR and PCR raw materials. This process involves sorting, cleaning, melting and transforming waste materials into new raw materials that are reused in our production.
What are PIR and PCR raw materials?
PIR (Post Industrial Recycled) is recycled material derived from industrial waste, while PCR (Post Consumer Recycled) comes from consumer waste. KIVO produces both types at our own recycling facilities: PIR at KIVO Recycling and PCR at REKS. For more information, contact our specialists via the contact form.
How does KIVO ensure recycled materials are of high quality?
We use advanced technologies and strict quality controls to ensure that our recycled materials meet the highest standards. This enables us to incorporate up to 80% of recycled material in our products.
What role does REKS LLC play in KIVO's recycling activities?
REKS LLC, our joint venture recycling facility, focuses on recycling plastic waste streams from supermarket chains, retailers and distribution centres. Here, we sort, separate, wash and recycle plastic waste into high-quality PCR raw materials. This is a strategic partnership between KIVO and Kras Recycling.
