KIVO first in the Netherlands with Blaue Engel label for potting soil film

For our potting soil film We have largely replaced the Virgin material with a film developed containing as many as 80% PCR. As a result, we are now also certified with the Blue Angel seal of approval. This makes KIVO Flexible Plastics the first in the Netherlands to carry this quality mark for potting soil film.

What is the Blauer Engel seal of approval?

The Blauer Engel Label is an environmental label of German origin relating to sustainability and environmental friendliness.

This quality mark can cover various products and services. Each product group or service has its own conditions or, as the organisation itself calls it, "Vergabekriterien".

Such a conditions list also exists for plastic packaging: DE-UZ 30a.

Key requirements you must meet:

  • The film shall consist of at least 80% Post Consumer Recyclate.
  • The film is free of harmful substances
  • Closing mass balance of recyclate
  • Product information accessible to (potential) customers in English and German.

BlauerEngel seal of approval

For some customers, this label is an important marketing tool and increasingly outweighs the sometimes slightly darker colour of the film. After all, the quality is equivalent to the Virgin material. Customers also mostly go for the addition of 50% and do not always dare to make the step to 80% yet. KIVO thinks this is just a matter of time until it will be widespread within the industry.
