The challenge

As a partner in the aviation, hotel and restaurant sectors, Lamme uses large amounts of plastic packaging for their washable solutions. The challenge was to make this packaging more sustainable, with less reliance on virgin plastic, without compromising functionality and efficiency.

The solution

The Circular Plastics Alliance programme brought together various parties in the chain to promote circular solutions. Through this initiative, Lamme Textile Management came into contact with KIVO, which resulted in a collaboration aimed at making their packaging more sustainable. The unique film that was developed combines 60% recycled material (PCR) with 40% prime material, a composition that was later improved to 70/30. This innovative ratio combined with a thickness of only 15 microns is progressive and contributes significantly to lower environmental impact without compromising on quality or functionality.

Impact of this innovation

  • Lower carbon emissions: The use of recycled material significantly reduces the packaging's carbon footprint.
  • Efficiency: The thinner material leads to less use of raw materials and lower transport costs.
  • Sustainability visible to customers: Lamme's customers appreciate the sustainability efforts, which also supports their own environmental goals.

Future vision

For Lamme and KIVO, this is just the beginning. The joint goal is to go to 80% recycled material or more in the future. Through innovation and collaboration, both companies continue to work towards a circular future.

Conclusion

This case shows how cooperation between companies can lead to tangible results for both the environment and the customer. With this step, Lamme Textile Management is contributing to a more sustainable laundry sector, without compromising on quality and efficiency.
